Meet Pessoa through his writings:

"Oh bell of my village,
Mournful in the quiet afternoon,
Each stroke that you sound
Tolls within my soul."
"To maintain the dignity of tedium.”
”By day I am nothing and by night I am me.”
“We all have a Vasques who is the boss - visible for some os us, invisible for others.”
“His eyes thinking within about things outside.”
“Art relieves us from life, without relieving us from living.”
“With the collar of a clerk’s overall raised above the neck of a poet.
With boots always bought at the same shop unconsciously avoiding the puddles of cold rain.“
“I wonder what I have managed not to see.”
“I was not the actor but have his tastes.”
"Because I am the size of what I see and not the size of my stature.”
“But I love the Tagus, because of a big city along its shore.
I enjoy the sky because I see it from a fourth floor in a street downtown”
“The applause reaches the fourth floor where I live and collides with the quaint furniture of my cheap room, with the worthless things that surround me and diminishes me from the kitchen to dreams.”
“When I want to go down in my soul, I suddenly stop, distracted, at the top of the deep spiral staircase, looking out of the high window at the sun that moistens the mass of roofs with a tawny goodbye.”
“I was born in a village that has an opera house"

The book "O Devir-Eu de Fernando Pessoa" and ABBC

In the book “O Devir-Eu de Fernando Pessoa” by José Gil we can find several passages that show how Bernardo Soares was connected to a room on the fourth floor of the building where ABBC has its office.
It was in this room, on the fourth floor, in the building facing the Theatre São Carlos that Bernardo Soares meditated about the inner “obscure” space and the outer "space” that he saw from his window.

Some passages:
